My faves are Pugliese (http://www.pugliesevineyards.com/) and Gallucio (http://www.gallucciowineries.com/)(who unfortunately are selling their farm). If you're interested
in making a trip out, check out the MTA getaways page for inexpensive tours of a few of the vineyards. (http://www.mta.info/lirr/getaways/LongIsland/)
Cheers!

Hey David,

Congrats on the softball! Hopefully we'll see you on the farm next time...

If you're out in the area and want to see the farm Matt and Maggie are very open about visitors-- give them a call or email and ask if you can stop in for a quick visit!

We went to the Paumanok Vineyard. We took a really great tour out in the vineyard and in the cellars, really amazing. But honestly, I wasn't really a fan of the wine-- though others seemed to enjoy it. I thought it lacked structure.

You might already know the site: Long Island Wine: http://liwines.com/default.ihtml?page=mapanddirections
I think that map is a great resource. Basically all the vineyards are one after another and it's easy to hit all of them (if you're still able to drive) in a weekend. Ones that I have heard are good (or know from experience) are:

Shinn Estate
Wolffer (has an amazing 2006 rose this summer)
I've heard good things about Lieb, Macari, Jamesport, Clovis Point
Osprey's receives high marks in Wine Spectator though they get pricey
Corey Creek (also has a good rose this summer)

Hope this helps and have fun!

Looks like a real life farm. Unfortunately I couldn't make it out last weekend because of a prior commitment. Fortunately, though, my softball team did beat American Latino TV for our first win of the season.

I heard some talk about going to a winery before the farm. I'd appreciate it if anyone who went could get back to me or to this thread with a little review. Was the wine good? Did you get a good tour of the premises? Was it a nice place in general? Your responses will make or break my mother's Mother's Day so dont' delay, please.
