Meat/ Dairy Order Deadline June 16!
Remember to sign up for Lewis Waite Meat/ Dairy. The order deadline is June 16 (tomorrow) for delivery June 21! Here’s a note from the farm:
Dear Members,
CSA order reminder for June 21
We are writing this reminder for our delivery coming up on Thursday, June 21. The order deadline is on Saturday, June 16 at midnight. We thank you for indulging us this extra day for preparation of the orders as the number of farms we coordinate with has increased and the number of orders has increased as new CSAs are phoning us to see how we can fit them in our routes each month. We thank you for all the support through the winter months. We can feel the surge of the BUY LOCAL consumer response to the corporate food blunders and additives we cannot pronounce and extensive travel for the food they offer and feel that soon we may need to find more farms and encourage more start-up farmers to participate in growing the foods for our region. Thank you, we love our farm life, as busy as it can be at times!
Our first batch of grass-finished beef came back to the farm for the next delivery. We have many of your grilling favorites - Blade steaks, T-Bone steaks, Porterhouse steaks, Flank steaks, Boneless Sirloin steaks and Tenderloin steaks as well as a new supply of Mock tenders, Beef back ribs, Kabob cubes, Short ribs and many other cuts.  You can now edit your order to include these items using the “See my Existing Orders†menu item. Any question regarding this procedure, please feel free to contact us.So thanks again for all your support.
Don’t forget, the next order deadline is June 16, and delivery is on June 21.Nancy and Alan Brown

This is a great link to the facts about going vegetarian vs. eating grass fed meat, and the environmental impact of each. From our friends at Farm Aid:

Just to clarify, Lewis Waite is the beef/ pork farm and partners with a number of other upstate farms to create CSA Pastures (not a very intuitive name). Lewis Waite Farm are the ones that had the idea to partner and are the ones that make the drop on Thursdays. The directions are on the blog:

Enjoy!
If you’re having problems signing on or navigating the site feel free to contact Nancy (at Lewis Waite). Her info is on the CSA Pastures site.
