There is a fantastic new eating establishment within walking distance of our CSA pick-up. Valverde Cucina Italiana is an intimate 5 table spot that prepares artisan Italian specialties and bakes and makes desserts and everything else on premises. I’ve been to brunch twice and everyone in my group thought their choices were incredible.
Valverde uses fresh, wild and locally grown ingredients (as possible, which made me think of CSAers) and offers vegetarian options. Everything I’ve seen, eaten or seen on the menu is top quality at reasonable prices - pasta, panini, risotto, salads, entrees, desserts, wine and more. They also have posted a recent very favorable review in “A New York Gourmet”.
They’ve been open six months and say it’s been a struggle. I’m trying to get this info out in the hopes that other CSA-ers might be willing to check them out. It’s great to spend my small eat-out budget with a great local restaurant that I hope will stay in business for a long time.
I live just 2 blocks away but have never really walked in their direction. More my loss.

We too love Valverde! We have been going there since they first opened and have never been disappointed. I hope they can manage to stay in business. Help keep this small local place alive–you won’ be sorry.
