(Returning Member) Registration Open for 2008!

images1.jpgAstoria CSA Members:

Welcome to the 2008 season!
A few house cleaning issues before you register:

We are so excited to open our membership for the 2008 season. This year promises to be bigger than our last with 150 shares available to us and a grant from Citizens Committee for NYC to help support low-income shares. As many of you know, we are working with ARROW Recreation Center to change the location of our distribution next season. With this move we’ll have more space and hope to make a larger presence in the greater Astoria community.Unfortunately, because of rising gas prices and unexpected costs from our farmers, our share price has gone up. But… recent research shows that our prices still often beat conventional (non-organic) produce prices at local groceries! We will sum up these findings shortly and release them here.

With recently updated Q&As about next season, a new recipes page, and this page with more info than ever on how to get active in the CSA and beyond, we hope you keep coming back online (even more to come soon like storage tips and survey responses from our farmers.) In the coming weeks we’ll be moving more of our communication onto our website, creating a central location for all information. We hope to filter our members’ names into a weekly automatic update system on this site too, alleviating information place overload.

2008 season info…

Registration is now open for returning members only. Registration for new members will begin in March with a new member Q&A with our farmers. Returning members have until this time to reserve their spot for next season by making a minimum $100 (credit card) deposit. Check or money order payments must be made in-full. Once registration opens in March we can no longer guarantee returning members a share.

Share partners: If you need a new share partner for 2008, please leave a comment below to find share partners. (You must register with WordPress in the right column to leave a comment.)

Add-ons: We are still working on more add-ons for the 2008 season. These will likely be pay-as-you go, some weekly, some monthly deliveries. You will notice an optional extra 3 week strawberry share extension available under the fruit share when you register online. This is from Briermere Farms (we will still receive strawberries from Golden Earthworm in our vegetable share).

Low-income: We are happy to be able to offer reduced pricing for qualified members in 2008. We do not yet have all the details prepared, but if you are interested in low-income pricing, please E-mail Kristy. Do not use the online form for low income!

Paying by check or money order: One-time payment must be made in-full. Fill out your information online to receive our address.

Paying by credit card: Beginning February 1, there’s a 2% processing fee that we can’t help. Before February 1, there’s no fee. We urge you to make credit card payments before this date.

Spreading out payments: Credit card only! Transactions of at least $100 required. Pay the rest at a later date by returning to the Membership page. You must be paid in full before May 15, 2008.

Paying by credit card, check or money order, please go to our Membership page to register. If making multiple credit card payments you will return to this page for future transactions.

All the best for our 2008 season!

Organically yours,
Astoria CSA Core

I’ve already signed up and paid for 2008 but now I want to add the additional 3 week strawberry share. How do I log back in and do that . . . or can I call someone and pay over the phone? Thanks.
