1) This Week’s Share:
See our newsletter, On The Table, for share contents, informative articles, food policy, and other great content. The newsletter is posted Tuesdays to the website, www.astoriacsa.com as a blog post. Email newsletter@astoriacsa.com to write an article. See our recipe page for cooking ideas and our storage tips page for ways to keep your veggies fresh! See our farmer’s newsletter for farm info.
2) IMPORTANT Share Information
Going out of town or missing a pick up? Having a friend or neighbor pick up for you? No need to let us know. Just inform whomever is picking up for you to provide the main shareholder’s name. It’s that easy! (You should also tell them if you have fruit or split a share and how to do that.) If you cannot get another person to pick up your share does not go to waste. We donate all extra shares at the end of the night to the Steinway Food Pantry.
Recycle Fruit Containers. NYC will not recycle those plastic pint and half pint fruit containers, but Briermere Farms will! Bring your clean fruit containers to distro and we’ll send them back to the farm for re-use.
Recipe Collection: Do you have tried and true recipes you love making with your weekly veggies? Submit your recipes to recipes@astoriacsa.com and see them on our recipe page! Please note whether the recipe is from a cookbook, adapted from another recipe, or if it’s your own and maybe one or two sentences about the recipe. Our goal is to assemble an Astoria CSA cookbook at some point down the road and we want our member recipes! Email recipes@astoriacsa.com if you have questions about what to do with any of your veggies too! Our member Michele is on hand to collect and answer your questions!
3) Workshop: Cooking Extravaganza! THIS Thursday, July 24
