CSA Pastures, our grass-fed/ pastured meat, egg, cheese, jam, honey and organic bread co-op upstate is now delivering 2 times a month! Order deadline is always the Saturday before the pick up date. Check www.astoriacsa.com’s Upcoming Events for all drop dates. Next delivery is August 14. Remember there is NO CASH on site. All payments must be made online by PayPal or by check on-site. 3) Beer: Local & Low-Carbon- Order now!
Available every week! Please call your order in to Bierkraft. Orders are due Wednesdays by 8 PM. See their website (www.bierkraft.com) for what beers are available to fill a growler, note your top choices then place an order by calling: 718-230-7600. Provide the following information: (1) You are with Astoria CSA (2) Your name (3) Credit card info/ phone number (4) How many growlers you are ordering (5) Whether you NEED growlers or will EXCHANGE growlers (5) Your top beer choices. Remember that kegs are small artisanal batches and run out frequently, note a few extra beer choices in case your first choice beer(s) runs out. There is NO CASH exchange at ARROW. Your credit card will be charged after the delivery in case your bottle breaks en route or you do not return a growler from the previous week (growlers are a one-time $4 deposit plus cost of beer).
4) Kid’s Workshop August 14, 2:30-3:30 PM: From Plant to Table
How does food travel from farms to our tables? What happens to food to change it from the form in which it’s harvested to the many forms we encounter in grocery stores? We’ll explore the steps of processing, preserving and transporting food, use hands-on games to explore common foods in many forms, and will make our own preserved food to take home.
5) Adult Workshop August 21, 6-7 PM: Why Do I Crave Sugar?
Whether you consider yourself a healthy eater or not, do you ever wonder why you crave sugar? Come and have your entire outlook on sugar permanently changed. You will learn why you crave those sweets and what you can do to prevent the cravings.
